Post History

Every Post has a unique history of it’s formation. Below is an example of a Post History than can be used as a template. The Post History should include the service information of the veteran the Post is named after. note: the below history is a fictitious example.

In 1948 a group of World War II Veterans from the Indianapolis area decided to organize an American Legion Post. A meeting was held at a local VFW and William Smith was selected as temporary Chairman to receive all correspondence and conduct meetings until permanent officers were elected.

On March 23, 1949 the permanent Officers we elected, which were Commander: John Smith, 1st Vice Commander: Dan Smith. On April 21, 1949 a charter was issued establishing American Legion John Doe Post 176.
